Yes, This Is In Africa

Usually, the number one reason for travelers to visit Africa is to embark on a safari or to climb Kilimanjaro.

While Africa certainly does have some of the most prolific wildlife viewing opportunities and one of the seven summits, there are so many more reasons and several rare, unique travel destinations within Africa you should consider for your next vacation.

Here is a list of tourist destinations I am currently obsessed with:

1. Algeria

Oran, a port city in Algeria, has a Spanish Christian Church, Turkish (Ottoman) fort, and Muslim mosque that has a Jewish synagogue at the bottom.

 

2. Tunisia


Sidi Bou Said is a town in northern Tunisia located about 20 km from the capital, Tunis. The town itself is a tourist attraction and is known for its extensive use of blue and white paintings.

 

3. Morocco

The fascinating city of Ifrane in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains. It’s known for its alpine-style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests.

The world’s largest open-air fossil museum is located near Erfoud in Morocco.

 

4. Ghana

This is the Whitesands Beach Resort. Gomoa Fete. Central Region of Ghana. Ghana’s most exclusive, African chic hotel and beach resort.

 

5. Namibia

Sossusvlei is located about 350km southwest of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It has some of the highest dunes in the world. It is one of Namibia’s most spectacular landmarks with red dunes, a white salt pan, and Deadvlei.

 

6. Kenya

The Great Rift Valley in Kenya was formed over 20 million years old when the earth’s crust started splitting.

It consists of the Cherangani Hills and a chain of volcanoes, some of which are still active.

 

7. Zimbabwe

The Devil’s Pool in Victoria Falls (Mosi oa-Tunya) in Zimbabwe and Zambia.

This natural rock swimming pool on a ledge next to Victoria’s walls offers dramatic views.

 

8. South Africa

Blyde River Canyon in South Africa is the world’s third-largest canyon and the world’s largest green canyon.

 

9. Lesotho

Lesotho is a small landlocked country within South Africa, known for its towering mountain peaks and breathtaking vistas.

 

10. Ethiopia

Ethiopia has the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Africa with nine, namely Aksum, Fasil Ghebbi, Harar, Konso Cultural Landscape, Lower Valley of the Awash, Lower Valley of the Omo, Rock-Hewn Churches, Simien National Park, and Tiya.

 

11. Djibouti

Diving underwater with whale sharks is common in Djibouti.

The best diving in Djibouti takes place off Maskali and Moucha in the Gulf of Tadjoura, which has vast marine biodiversity.

 

12. Namibia

Namibia has nearly a thousand miles of coastline, shaped by the winds and largely unpopulated, where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean.

The Namib Sand Sea is a unique coastal fog desert encompassing a diverse array of large, shifting dunes. This is the world’s oldest desert.

Traveling in Africa can be expensive, hectic, and difficult. The continent doesn’t allow easy movement between African countries, even Africans.

But, as the second biggest continent in the world, Africa is jam-packed with some of the world’s biggest things:

• The largest desert in the world, the Sahara Desert

• The longest river in the world, the Nile River, runs for 6,853 km.

• The world’s biggest inland delta, Okavango Delta

• Highest freestanding mountain in the world (and one of the Seven Summits), Mount Kilimanjaro.

• The world’s largest wildlife migration on Earth occurs in The Serengeti in Tanzania, with over 750,000 zebra marching ahead of 1.2 million wildebeest as they cross this fantastic landscape.

With a beautiful variety of wildlife, culture, and adventure, the African continent will deliver truly unforgettable experiences.
