Sooo, I am currently backpacking Burkina Faso and I logged at this very cool Villa called Sougri Doogo located in Loumbila, a 30-minute drive outside Ouagadougou.
Before leaving Accra the owner of the Villa assisted me with all the relevant info I needed before my visit and alleviated all my security concerns (Burkina Faso has had 2 separate coups this year 🫤)
She was responsive throughout my 24hr road trip (I will share the tedious road trip in a separate blog post) and she arranged a taxi before my arrival. All-round excellent services ❤️
Accommodation
Villa Sougri Doogo is owned by a lovely couple and the villa currently has 10+ ensuite rooms in total. They have options for single beds and double beds. Perfect for large groups.
The Villa has lots of outdoor spaces, a restaurant, a farm where they grow their vegetables and a fish farm. The whole environment is green, and the best part is the cozy pool shaded by a flower garden. I love love love the pool 😅
The rate per night for accommodation is $35, meals are between $3 – $12 per plate and they have a local guide on call for Ouagadougou tours at an additional fee. Trust me, you need a guide.
Food & More
I, unfortunately, didn’t like the food on day 1 but that was remedied quickly the next day when I shared my feedback with the chef. Every meal aftermath was excellent 👌🏾
Taxis to and from the Villa were expensive however, I spent approximately $40 on taxis in total so my pockets suffered 😩😵💫
The Villa doesn’t accept card payments, carry enough cash, or use an ATM in Ouagadougou before your visit.
