There’s a long list of resorts and destinations to visit in Ghana on a reasonable budget, and these are my current favorites in no particular order.
Biriwa Beach Resort
Located on the Accra – Cape Coast road, this resort is truly a hidden gem. The pool, beach, and food here have had consistently great reviews for years.
Accommodation starts from Ghc 600 a night and they have enough rooms for groups.

Sealine View Resort
Sealine offers a hillside view of the Atlantic Ocean and Salt pans from McCarthy Hill, Accra. There is a restaurant, grills, a Spa, etc. Accommodation starts from Ghc 600. Contact them via 055 175 7070

Orange Beach Resort
Orange beach resort located in Cape Coast is a personal favorite. This budget resort has basic rooms starting at Ghc 300 it is a walking distance from the Cape Coast Castle, and the resident chef Robert makes the best dishes on that coast!

Afrikiko Riverfront Resort
Afrikiko Resort is a top resort in Akosombo, located about an hour and a half drive from the capital city Accra, on the banks of the River Volta.
The Resort has a 3-wing setup. This includes chalets with individual balconies facing the river, courtyard rooms, and pool-side rooms built in an exotic tropical garden.
Room rates start at Ghc 700 and all rates include a buffet breakfast.

Maranatha Beach Camp
This camp is quietly situated at the Ada estuary, where the Atlantic Ocean and the Volta River meet. It is a fun and calming resort.
Accommodation starts at just Ghc 200 per night, and your accommodation is a simple but decent beach hut.

Wildwin Resort
Wildwin Resort is set on the stunning Lake Bosomtwe near Kumasi. They offer a variety of activities ranging from Camping, Swimming, Hiking, Fishing, Rafting, and numerous Board Games.

Aylos Bay Resort
Aylo Bay is located in Atimpoku, near Akosombo. They have budget-friendly riverside rooms with a bar overlooking the Adomi Bridge. The sunsets here are stunning!
Room rates start at Ghc 350 for a decent air-conditioned garden view room, and their riverside rooms go for Ghc 450
The local dishes are delicious, the staff is friendly and the pizza is surprisingly great! Activities include boat rides and nature hiking.

Tenack Beach Resort
I love Tenack for the food, facilities, and proximity to some Western regions’ tourist attractions.
The food is delicious and freshly made and the staff is super helpful. They have 20+ rooms, a beautiful pool, sea view rooms, conferencing facilities, and a restaurant. It is highly recommended for large groups.
Tenack is located in Beyin; they are just a short drive from Nzulezu and Fort Apollonia.

Stone Lodge
Stone Lodge is set in a green and serene environment and is uniquely situated to offer a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.
It is also ideal for the tourist who wants to experience traditional life in Ghana while having access to all of the conveniences and comforts of modern life.
Located in Asutsuare and is easy to find via Google maps. Lodging starts from Ghc 700 for a standard air-conditioned room with breakfast and access to the pool.
It’s a short drive from the Shai Hills Camp, so you can include hiking and birdwatching in your itinerary.

Kokrobite Gardens
Kokrobite Garden originally started as a restaurant and has grown into a cozy garden home.
Accommodation is basic but perfectly comfortable. Outside the rooms are colorful textured walls, elegant paintings, and small triangles of a mirror.
Room rates start from Ghc 400 for a budget room, and an en-suite pool view room goes for Ghc 600.
They are specialized in Italian food but also have a wide variety of meals on their menu.
Kokrobite Garden is easy to find on Google maps, and it’s just an hour’s drive from Kaneshie, Accra.

Ankobra Bridge Resort
The resort has 30+ en-suite rooms ideal for large tour groups and families. Accommodation rates start at Ghc 550 for a standard en-suite room to Ghc 700 for an executive room.
My favourite thing about this resort is the spacious, clean rooms, super-fast wifi, and cosy garden area with a view of the estuary.

Kosa Beach Resort
Ko-Sa Beach Resort is an environmentally mindful and calm resort built in natural surroundings. The unique ambiance of eco lodging in colorful rooms with modern comfort.
Budget double rooms start at Ghc 450 and have a garden view. Facilities include a double bed, a fan, and a built-in mosquito net.
Meals here start from Ghc 40. They make wonderful cocktails.
Getting to Kosa is easy, from Accra, drive to Cape Coast, and then to Ampenyin.

Emily’s Place
This hidden gem is a two-bedroom private beach house in Gomoa Fetteh.
The 1st bedroom has a queen-size bed and the 2nd bedroom has two single beds. Each room goes for Ghc 700 per night. This house is perfect for a group of four.
Emily’s Place is easy to find. Drive from Accra to Gomoa Fetteh Township and be directed to Emily’s Place. Easy to find on Google maps.

Hideout Lodge
Hideout Lodge is one of my favorite budget-friendly resorts in the country.
Located approximately two hours from Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana, this little beach destination is a beautiful paradise.
Butre beach, where the lodge is located is one of the cleanest beaches in Ghana from my experience.
The lodge and its quirky, decent but straightforward accommodation isn’t even the best part; the view from the top of Fort Batenstein, which is located 10 minutes away from the beach, is the most beautiful scenery I’ve seen.

Mountain Paradise Lodge
The Volta Region of Ghana is amongst my favorite regions in the country, and the Mountain Paradise Lodge is one of my favorite destinations in the region.
Nature, serenity, good food, and everything in between.
Room rates at the Mountain Paradise Lodge start from Ghc 350 to Ghc 600. Options include air-conditioned rooms, dorm rooms, and decent double rooms.
There’s a beautiful waterfall in the valley overlooking the lodge to discover during your stay, and the bar has the best view of Mount Gemi!

Axim Beach Resort
Axim Beach Resort has single-budget rooms at Ghc 650 and sea-view chalets starting from Ghc 800. Facilities include two restaurants, a large pool, air-conditioned rooms, TVs and conference facilities.
Axim is approximately a 3hrs drive from Takoradi. The resort is a few minutes drive from Fort Saint Antonio.
